Competences in the field of first aid for social workers residential services for the elderly

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo popsat, jakým způsobem si pracovníci v sociálních službách, působících v registrovaných sociálních službách domovů se zvláštním režimem na území Jihočeského kraje, osvojili kompetence v oblasti první pomoci získané během kvalifikačního procesu. Pro dosažení cíle byla zvolena smíšená výzkumná strategie. Kvantitativní část byla realizována pomocí metody dotazování prostřednictvím dotazníku vlastní konstrukce. Kvalitativní část využívá metodu kazuistiky a techniku polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen 196 respondenty a 4 komunikačními partnery. Z výzkumu vzešlo, že většina respondentů během svého kvalifikačního vzdělávání prošla modulem, který obsahoval první pomoc. Tento modul ovšem nepřesáhl rozsah jedné hodiny, přičemž výuka byla vedena též pouze formou teorie, popřípadě přehráním výukového videa. Hodnocení výuky první pomoci u respondentů bylo kladné, avšak i přes to respondenti uvádí, že se necítí být připraveni pro poskytnutí první pomoci. Značné rezervy vykazují znalosti respondentů v oblasti vybavení jejich pracoviště. Pokud již respondenti umístění lékárniček znají, pak se nezajímali o jejich obsah, popřípadě netuší, jak s obsahem pracovat. Teoretické znalosti vykazují u respondentů základní nedostatky v osvojení běžných postupů první pomoci. Některé nedostatky lze označit za fatální, neboť mají významný vliv na účelnost poskytnuté první pomoci. Výstupy dále potvrzují, že se pracovníci v sociálních službách s nutností poskytnout první pomoc klientům setkávají. Při jejím poskytování se ovšem necítí jistí a pouze dva respondenti uvedli, že první pomoc poskytli samostatně. Výstupy rigorózní práce mohou být využity v rámci začlenění získaných poznatků na celostátní úrovni (legislativní, metodická, poradenská a konzultační činnost) či u jednotlivých zaměstnavatelů pracovníků v sociálních službách u specifikované cílové skupiny.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to describe how social workers working in registered social services of special regime homes in the South Bohemian Region have acquired the competencies in the field of first aid acquired during the qualification process. A mixed research strategy has been chosen to achieve the goal. The quantitative part was realized using the method of questioning through an own design questionnaire. The qualitative part uses the method of case studies and the technique of semi-structured interview. The research group consisted of 196 respondents and 4 communication partners. The research has shown that most respondents went through a module that included first aid during their qualification training. However, this module did not exceed the scope of one hour, while the teaching was also conducted only in the form of theory, or by playing an instructional video. The respondents' evaluation of first aid teaching has been positive, but respondents still mention their uncertainty about providing first aid.The respondents' knowledge of the equipment of their workplace shows considerable reserves. If the respondents already know the location of first aid kits, then they were not interested in their content, or have no idea how to work with the content. Respondents' theoretical knowledge shows the basic shortcomings in the adoption of common first aid procedures. Some deficiencies can be described as fatal, as they have a significant impact on the effectiveness of first aid. The outputs further confirm that social service workers encounter the need to provide first aid to clients. However, they do not feel confident in providing it and only two respondents stated that they have provided first aid separately. The results of this thesis can be used in the integration of acquired knowledge at the national level (legislative, methodological, advisory and consulting activities) or for individual employers of social workers for a specified target group.
