Information poverty as a social problem from the point of view of the unemployed: Case study – Jobcentre in Olomouc

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje sociálním změnám, které se objevují spolu s dynamickým rozvojem informační společnosti, a to zejména změnám v oblasti trhu práce a zaměstnanosti. Blíže se zabývá informační gramotností, hypotézou vědomostní propasti a digital divide. Součástí práce je zjištění, jak jsou moderní informační technologie (ICT) dostupné nezaměstnaným uchazečům o práci a jakým způsobme ovlivňují jejich strategie hledání zaměstnání. Pozornost je věnována zejména nerovnosti ve schopnostech s ICT pracovat a faktorům, které tuto nerovnost ovlivňují.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with social changes which occurs alongside the dynamic development of the information society, it deals especially with the changes in the area of labour market and employment. It closely concerns with information literacy, theory of knowledge gap and digital divide. Part of the thesis makes the findings of accessibility of modern information technologies (ICT) to the unemployed job candidates and affect of these technologies on the tactics of job-seeking. Attention is especially paid to the inequality in capability to work with ICT and to the factors which affect this inequality.
