Euthanasia from the perspective of nurses

Abstract:

Závěrečná bakalářská práce na téma ?Eutanazie z pohledu všeobecných sester? se zabývá problematikou eutanazie a jejím cílem je zjistit, jaký postoj k ní zaujímají všeobecné sestry a jaké faktory jejich názor ovlivňují. Práce se skládá z části teoretické a praktické, kde jsou uvedena i doporučení, která by mohla zlepšit současnou situaci. Teoretická část je zaměřena především na eutanazii a její druhy, stručnou historii, dále popisuje situaci u nás i ve světě, argumentaci a v malé míře je nastíněna i problematika jejího zneužití a souvislost s náboženstvím. V práci se věnujeme také smrti a umírání, načež navazujeme paliativní péčí, která je umírajícím pacientům určena. V neposlední řadě jsou zde popsány také hospice, které tuto péči poskytují. V části empirické zjišťujeme názor sester na eutanazii a jejich znalosti v oblasti útěšné medicíny, kam patří poskytování paliativní péče nevyléčitelně nemocným pacientům a zkušenost s hospici. Průzkum se uskutečnil pomocí dotazníkového šetření v krajské nemocnici a v litoměřickém hospici. Jeho výsledky jsou pro lepší přehlednost uvedeny v tabulkách a grafech v druhé části práce.

Abstract:

Final bachelor thesis topic ?Euthanasia from the perspective of nurses? deals with issues of euthanasia. Its goal is to explore their attitude towards euthanasia as well as factors forming that attitude. The thesis discusses theoretical and practical aspects of euthanasia and provides recommendations how to improve the current situation. The theoretical part is focused on euthanasia in general, different types of euthanasia, brief history, and the situation in Czech Republic and abroad. In addition, it considers religion as well as ethical issues including the abuse of euthanasia. The issues of death, dying, and palliative care for terminally ill patients are explored. Finally, the hospices providing palliative care are described in the part. In the exploratory part, we find the opinion of nurses to euthanasia and their knowledge of the comforting medicine, where it belongs the providing of palliative care for terminally ill patients and their experience with hospices. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire method in the country hospital and hospice Litomerice. The results are shown for better clarity in tables and graphs in the second part.
