The Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich or Historical event as a cinematic situation

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zaměření se na specifický fenomén – totiž nevyhnutelnou, a zejména dobově podmíněnou tendenčnost zobrazování historických událostí v české i světové kinematografii. Historický film často bývá spíše výpovědí o době svého vzniku než o popisované události samotné a pravděpodobně neexistuje možnost vyhnout se stylizaci nebo manipulaci s fakty. Doba vzniku filmu svým kulturním a politickým kontextem ovlivňuje žánr, formu i samotné umělecké zpracování historické látky. Atentát na zastupujícího říšského protektora Reinharda Heydricha, vzhledem k tuzemské a zahraniční četnosti filmových zpracování, je nejvhodnějším vzorem k analýze výše zmiňovaného. Tato analýza však není nahlížena prizmatem filmového vědce nebo historika, kterým autor práce není, nýbrž prizmatem posluchače oboru hrané režie a budoucího filmového režiséra – tj. jedná se o praktické ohledávání postupů filmových ztvárnění atentátu a v neposlední řadě diplomant nastiňuje vlastní autorská řešení.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to focus on a specific phenomenon – namely the inevitable, and especially time-conditioned, tendency to depict historical events in Czech and world cinema. Historical film is often more a statement about the time of its creation than about the event itself, and there is probably no way to avoid stylization or manipulation of facts. The cultural and political context of the time of the film's creation influences the genre, the form and the artistic treatment of the historical material itself. The assassination of Acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich, given the domestic and foreign frequency of film treatments, is the most appropriate model for the analysis of the above. This analysis, however, is not viewed through the prism of a film scholar or historian, which the author of the thesis is not, but through the prism of a student of the field of feature film direction and a future film director - i.e. it is a practical examination of the practices of film representations of the assassination and, last but not least, the graduate outlines his own authorial solutions.
