Renewable sources of energy in EU

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zhodnocení využití obnovitelných zdrojů energie (OZE) v energetickém systému EU, vymezení příležitostí a rizik jejich budoucího rozvoje. Využití OZE je zhodnoceno zejména z hlediska jejich podílu na produkci energie a také z pohledu dosažení stanovených cílů v rámci ekologických závazků EU a její členských států v období 2012-2021. V práci je provedena základní komparace využití OZE napříč členskými státy EU, použita metoda SWOT analýzy. Na základě dostupných statistik bylo prokázáno, že EU i ČR dosahují stanovených cílů v oblasti podílu OZE na hrubé konečné spotřebě energie, ale jsou zatím méně úspěšné z hlediska dosažení cílů v oblasti podílu OZE v dopravě. EU i ČR by také měly navýšit podíl veřejných výdajů na VaV na HDP, což je důležitý úkol z hlediska rozvoje potenciálu technologií pro výrobu energie z OZE. Práce dospěla k závěru, že hydroenergetika je perspektivní směr rozvoje OZE v EU, protože je spojena s nižší potřebou přírodních zdrojů a poskytuje flexibilitu ve výrobě a skladování energie z OZE. Vysoký potenciál mají také plovoucí větrné elektrárny, digitalizace a robotizace procesů v energetice.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the use of renewable energy sources (RES) in the EU energy system, to define the opportunities and risks of their future development. The use of RES is evaluated especially from the point of view of their share in energy production and also from the point of view of achieving the set goals within the environmental obligations of the EU and its member states in the period 2012-2021. In the thesis, a basic comparison of the use of RES across EU member states is made, using the SWOT analysis method. Based on the available statistics, it has been proven that both the EU and the Czech Republic achieve the set goals in the area of the share of RES in the gross final energy consumption, but are less successful in terms of achieving the goals in the area of the share of RES in transport. Both the EU and the Czech Republic should also increase the share of public expenditure on R&D in GDP, which is an important task from the point of view of developing the potential of technologies for the production of energy from RES. The work came to the conclusion that hydropower is a perspective direction for the development of RES in the EU, because it is associated with a lower need for natural resources and provides flexibility in the production and storage of energy from RES. Floating wind farms, digitization and robotization of processes in the energy sector also have high potential.
