The attitudes of pupils of the 5th to 9th years of elementary schools toward ethics education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce přispívá k objasnění problematiky postojů u žáků základních škol, konkrétně žáků 5. až 9. ročníků, k vyučovacímu předmětu etická výchova. Přispívá k souboru výzkumných prací, které se zabývají postoji žáků k přírodovědným předmětům. Cílem předkládané práce bylo zjistit relativní míru postoje k předmětu a základní determinanty ovlivňující tyto postoje, jimiž byly: pohlaví žáků, pohlaví učitele, navštěvovaný ročník, oblíbený předmět. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo celkem 1039 respondentů s průměrným věkem 13 let. Postoje se zjišťovaly pomocí dotazníku se škálovanými položkami, přičemž sesbíraná data byla analyzována statistickými analýzami ANOVA (Studentův T-test), Pearsonova analýza, faktorová analýza aj. Byly zjištěny relativně pozitivní postoje žáků k vyučovacímu předmětu etická výchova u obou pohlaví, kdy dívky měly pozitivnější postoje než chlapci. A v neposlední řadě byl zjištěn faktor, který výrazně ovlivňoval postoje žáků: přístup učitele. Dále bylo zjištěno, že oblíbenost konkrétního předmětu ve škole žáků neovlivňovala jejich postoje.

Abstract:

This thesis contributes to clarifying the issue of attitudes of primary school pupils, particularly pupils from 5th to 9th years of study, towards the subject of ethic education. It contributes to a mix of research works dealing with pupils' attitudes towards natural science subjects. The research was conducted among 1039 respondents with an average age of 13 years. The aim of this study was to find out the relative measure attitudes towards the subject and the fundamental determinants of these attitudes. These determinants were: sex of pupils, sex of teacher, year of study and favorite subject. Attitudes were surveyed using a questionnaire with items (scaled items), and the data collected was analyzed by statistical analysis ANOVA (or Student T-test), Pearson's analysis, factor analysis, etc. It was found that pupils´ attitudes toward ethics education were relatively positive for both sexes. However, girls had more positive attitude than boys. It was observed that one factor that significantly influenced the pupils’ attitude was the teachers’ approach to the subject. It was also found that the popularity of a specific subject among pupils did not affect their attitude towards ethic education.
