Influence of foster parents education on the development of children´s identity in their care

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Vliv vzdělání pěstouna na budování identity dítěte v jeho péči je kvalitativní studií jednoho z klíčových témat náhradní rodinné péče, kterým je identita dítěte v pěstounské péči. Práce si klade za cíl zjistit, do jaké míry a jakým způsobem neformální vzdělávání, které pěstoun absolvuje, ovlivňuje jeho kompetence v oblasti budování pozitivní identity dítěte. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. V teoretické části je definována identita jako pojem a jsou zde popsány její druhy. Čtenář se také seznámí s různými teoriemi, které se tohoto fenoménu týkají. Dále se práce zabývá tím, jak se identita v průběhu vývoje dítěte utváří a jaké mají děti umístěné v náhradní rodinné péči potřeby v této oblasti. Přiblížen je i systém vzdělávání pěstounů v České republice. Empirická část zahrnuje metodologii výzkumu a podrobnou analýzu dat, které byly získány prostřednictvím rozhovorů s pěstouny. Dále seznamuje čtenáře s kazuistikami pěstounských rodin, které se výzkumu zúčastnily. Výsledky práce jsou nakonec pomocí tzv. triangulace dat srovnávány s podobnými výzkumy.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis entitled The Influence of Foster Parents Education on Building the Child's Identity in Their Care is a qualitative study of one of the key topics of surrogate family care which is the child's identity in foster care. The work aims to find out to what extent and in what way the informal education completed by foster parents influences their competences in the field of building a positive identity of the child. The work is divided into a theoretical part and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, the identity is defined as a concept and types of identity are distinguished there. The work introduces the reader to various theories related to this phenomenon. Furthermore, the work deals with how identity is created during the development of the child and what the needs of children placed in surrogate family care are in this area. The next part of the work introduces the readers to the system of education of foster parents in the Czech Republic.The empirical part presents the research methodology and a detailed analysis of the data obtained through interviews with foster parents. Furthermore, the work acquaints the reader with the case studies of foster families that participated in the research. The results of this work are compared to similar research in the field of surrogate family care using the so-called triangulation of data.
