The differences between the Czech and the English preschools through eyes of parents

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá postoji a důvody rodičů k výběru tradič-ního či anglického předškolního vzdělávání. Jejím cílem je zodpovědět stanovenou výzkumnou otázku Jak souvisí vybraná charakteristika rodičů s jejich tendencí umístit svoje dítě do anglické mateřské školy? Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část se věnuje průběhu předškolního vzdělávání v České republice, osvojování cizího jazyka v raném věku a faktorům, souvisejícím s rozhodováním rodičů ohledně českého nebo anglického předškolního vzdělávání. Empirická část popisuje průběh výzkumu. Me-todologii a zpracování výsledku výzkumného šetření, které bylo uskutečněno pomocí dotazníku. Položková analýza je rozdělena na sedm podkapitol, kde se blíže věnuji výsledkům z výzkumného šetření. Na základě odpovědí respondentů v kombinaci s odbornou literaturou v teoretické části, můžeme tvrdit, že nejčastějším důvodem u rodičů, kteří mají své dítě v anglické mateřské škole je názor, že v raném věku se cizí jazyk osvojuje snadněji a rychleji.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the attitudes and reasons of parents in choosing either traditional or English pre-school education. Its aim is to answer the current research question: How do parents perceive learning English when choosing a kinder-garten? The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part deals with the course of pre-primary education in the Czech Republic, early language acquisition and factors related to parents' decision-making regarding Czech or English pre-school education. The empirical part describes the course of research. Methodology, and processing of the results of a research survey that was carried out using a questioning tool. The item analysis is divided into seven subchapters, where I deal with the results of the research survey. Based on the answers of respondents in combination with professional literature in the theoretical part, we can say that parents from the lowest socio-economic class do not have a great tendency to send their child to an English kindergarten and the most common reason, on the contrary, among parents who have their child in an English kindergarten, is the opinion that at an early age a foreign language is acquired easier and faster.
