Domestic Violence Prevention From Kindergarten Teachers' Perspective

Abstract:

V rámci této diplomové práce byly zkoumány možnosti a postoje pedagogických pracovníků mateřských škol z hlediska prevence domácího násilí a syndromu CAN v rodinách jejich žáků. Teoretická část vymezuje koncepty předškolního vzdělávání, kompetence pedagogických pracovníků mateřských škol, činnosti Orgánu sociálně-právní ochrany dětí, domácího násilí, syndromu CAN. Současně zmiňuje možnosti prevence a legislativní opory ve všech oblastech. V rozhovorech s ředitelkami brněnských mateřských škol bylo zjišťováno, jestli existuje jednotný pokyn/metodika pro pedagogy mateřských školách k řešení případů podezření na násilí v rodině žáka, jestli ho znají a využívají, a také jaký je jejich pohled na spolupráci se sociálními odbory příslušných obecních úřadů. Výzkumná část kvalitativní analýzou detekovala inhibitory zájmu pedagogických pracovníků řešit případy podezření na DN či syndrom CAN a také další významná témata, která přispívají k rozhodnutí, zda a jak řešit takové případy. Výstupem této práce je projekt dalšího vzdělávání pedagogických pracovníků MŠ, který na tyto poznatky navazuje.

Abstract:

The thesis examines capabilities and approaches of teaching staff in kindergartens regarding prevention of domestic violence and Child Abuse and Neglect in pupils’ families. The theoretical part defines concepts of pre-school education, capabilities of the teaching staff in kindergartens, activity of the authority for social and legal protection of children, domestic violence and Child Abuse and Neglect. It also describes existing means of prevention and legislative support in all respective fields. The headmistresses of Brno kindergartens were interviewed with a view to find out whether there is a single instruction for teaching staff in kindergartens for resolving cases of the pupil’s family violence occurrence. Subsequently the interviews focused on the teaching staff with the aim of finding out if they are familiar with such instruction and what is their opinion on the cooperation with competent municipal social authorities. The empirical part implemented a qualitative analysis to detect inhibitors that prevent the teaching staff from dealing with the cases of presumed DV or CAN. It also attempted to identify other vital factors contributing to the decision whether and how to deal with such cases. The outcome of the thesis is a project of further education for the teaching staff in kindergartens. It is based on the findings in the thesis.
