Water Rescue Service and its Activity from Paramedic View

Abstract:

První spolky zabývající se vodní záchranou se začínají v Evropě formovat v druhé polovině osmnáctého století. Mezi nejvýznamnější z hlediska formování konceptu vodního záchranářství patří spolek založený v Amsterdamu roku 1767 Maatschappij tot Redding van Drenkelingen a také londýnská společnost Royal Humane Society založená roku 1774. Na našem území se začínají vodní záchranné spolky utvářet koncem osmnáctého století, avšak skutečný rozvoj vodního záchranářství začíná po První světové válce. Vodní záchranná služba Českého červeného kříže vznikla v roce 1968 jako součást Československého červeného kříže a dodnes je kolektivním členem Českého červeného kříže. Je to největší a nejstarší organizace zabývající se vodní záchranou, záchranářskému sportu, prevenci a dalším aktivitám spojených s vodním prostředím. Hlavní činností Vodní záchranné služby je záchrana tonoucích a poskytování neodkladné rozšířené první pomoci na otevřených vodních plochách a v jejich blízkosti, včetně pomoci technické. V letních měsících zabezpečuje vybrané vodní plochy v nepřetržitém režimu a jako ostatní složka integrovaného záchranného systému přijímá výzvy od složek základních. Vodní záchranná služba Českého červeného kříže eviduje za letní sezónu průměrně šest stovek zásahů, v roce 2020 jich bylo přesně 639 a jednalo se především o zdravotnické zásahy. Přestože jsou členové Vodní záchranné služby dobrovolníci, musí splnit náročné podmínky pro získání kvalifikací dle vzdělávacího řádu Vodní záchranné služby.

Abstract:

First groups dealing with water rescue begin to be formed in Europe in the second half of the 18th century. Some of the most important contributions to the newly formed concept of water rescue were made by the Amsterdam group ‘Maatschappij tot Redding van Drenkelingen’ and also the London organisation ‘Royal Humane Society’ founded in 1767 and 1774 respectively. In our territory, the first water rescue groups started to be established towards the end of the 18th century, however, the real development of water rescue only started after the First World War. The Water Rescue Service of the Czech Red Cross appeared in 1968 as a component of the Czechoslovakian Red Cross and up until today, is a collective member of the Czech Red Cross. It is the largest and oldest organisation in the field of water rescue, rescue sport, prevention and other activities linked to the water environment. The main task of the Water Rescue Service is a rescue of drowning individuals and a provision of advanced life support at open water surfaces and in their proximity, including technical help. In summer months, it guards selected water surfaces in a round-the-clock regime and just as other components of the integrated rescue system, it receives calls from its focal components.The Water Rescue Service of the Czech Red Cross records around 600 calls during the summer season. In 2020, there were exactly 639, mainly medical interventions. While the personnel of the water rescue works on a voluntary basis, they have to fulfil demanding conditions to achieve qualification stipulated by the regulation of the Water Rescue Service.
