The aim of this thesis is to analyze the literary work of Jane Austen, specifically the novels Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility from the point of view of motives for concluding a wedding. This includes courtship and marriage. The aim is to differentiate certain types of marriage into specific categories which are also characterized. Cílem této práce je analyzovat literární dílo Jane Austenové, konkrétně romány Pýcha a předsudek a Rozum a cit z hlediska motivů pro uzavření manželství. Zahrnuje to i seznamování a manželství. Cílem je rozlišit určité typy manželství do specifických kategorií, které jsou také charakterizovány.
