The impact of early deprivation on school success

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem rané deprivace na školní úspěšnost u dětí, které byly v raném dětství deprivovány, prožily určitý čas v ústavní péči a dále vyrůstají v pěstounské rodině. Teoretická část je zaměřena na vymezení pojmu deprivace, popisuje vývoj jedince od narození do šesti let, dále se věnuje rodině, náhradní rodinné péči, syndromu CAN a školní úspěšnosti. Praktická část je postavena na kvalitativní metodě rozhovoru, za pomoci, kterého jsou získány informace týkající se životního příběhu dítěte. Součástí výzkumu je školní úspěšnost, která vychází z aktuálního vysvědčení dítěte a z dostupných materiálů. Poslední část výzkumu je zaměřena na metodu pozorování samotných dětí a následný popis jejich chování v průběhu sledovaných činností. Cílem výzkumu je zjistit, zdali se raná deprivace u zkoumaných dětí odráží na školní úspěšnosti. Výsledky jsou diskutovány a na jejich základě jsou formulovány doporučení pro jednotlivé případy.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the influence of early deprivation on school success of childern who undergone early childhood deprivation, lived some time in institutional care and now they are growing up in a foster home. The theoretical part is focused on the definition of deprivation, describes development of individuals from birth to the age of six years, concerns family, foster care, CAN syndrome and school success. The practical part is based on a qualitative method of interview, which can be used to obtain information regarding the life story of a child. Part of the research is school success, which is based on the current school report of the child and another available sources. The last part of the research is focused on the method of observation of the childern themselves, and the subsequent description of their behavior during monitored activities. The aim of the research is to determine whether the early deprivation of studied childern reflects on the school success. The results are discussed and on their basis are formulated recommendations for individual cases.
