Teachers' attitudes towards inclusive education of Roma children

Abstract:

Master thesis called Teachers' attitudes towards inclusive education of Roma children analyzes the question of Teachers' attitudes from selected schools in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom towards inclusive education of Roma children. It seeks to highlight the differences in attitudes of teachers towards Roma children and their education in these two countries. The aim of the work is to answer the main research question: What is similar and what is different about attitudes of teachers from the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic to inclusive education of Roma children? The thesis is devided into three parts. The theoretical part contains four chapters on attitudes, Roma pupils, inclusive education and education systems of both countries. Methodological part of the thesis deals with qualitative research, research objectives, limits of the research, research ethics, data collection techniques, operationalization and organization of the research. Last, empirical part of the thesis provide response to partial research questions which help answer the main research question. The research showed that the attitudes of teachers from United Kingdom towards inclusive education of Roma children are positive, while the attitudes of Czech teachers rather negative.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca s názvom Postoje učiteľov k inkluzívnemu vzdelávaniu rómskych detí analyzuje otázku postojov učiteľov vybraných škôl v Českej republike a vo Veľkej Británii k inkluzívnemu vzdelávaniu rómskych detí. Snaží sa upozorniť na odlišné postoje učiteľov k rómskym deťom a ich vzdelávaniu v týchto dvoch krajinách. Cieľom práce je zodpovedať hlavnú výskumnú otázku: V čom sú podobné a v čom sa odlišujú postoje učiteľov z Veľkej Británie a z Českej republiky k inkluzívnemu vzdelávaniu rómskych detí? Diplomová práca je rozdelená do troch častí. Teoretická časť obsahuje štyri kapitoly o postojoch, rómskom žiakovi, inkluzívnom vzdelávaní a vzdelávacích systémoch oboch krajín. Metodologickú časť tvoria kapitoly o kvalitatívnom výskume, cieľoch výskumu, limitách výskumu, etike výskumu, technikách zberu dát, operacionalizácii a priebehu výskumu. Posledná, empirická časť prináša rozkódovanie zistených poznatkov z výskumu a odpovede na čiastkové výskumné otázky, ktoré v závere práce pomáhajú zodpovedať hlavnú výskumnú otázku. Z výskumu vyplynulo, že postoje britských učiteľov k možnosti inkluzívne vzdelávať rómske deti sú pozitívne, zatiaľ čo postoje českých učiteľov skôr negatívne.
