Renewable sources of energy in the United states of America from 1850 till 1973

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o historii obnovitelných zdrojů na území Spojených států amerických v období let 1850-1970. Zároveň mapuje nejvýznamnější milníky používaných technologií a ukazuje, jak se jednotlivé obnovitelné zdroje uplatňovaly a používaly v kontextu doby, s přesahem i do jiných zemí, pokud byly pro dané téma zásadní. Jedná se o nejběžnější obnovitelné zdroje jako je sluneční, větrná, vodní, geotermální energie a obnovitelné zdroje v automobilismu. Zabývá se i některými důsledky na rozvoj průmyslu, zemědělství, ale i negativními dopady v oblasti životního prostředí. Dále jsou zde popsány některé nedokončené projekty, jež měly vést k novým obnovitelným zdrojům. Nastíněna je jaderná fúze, tedy možnost netradičního řešení rostoucí světové poptávky po energii, která nebyla dosud prakticky dořešena. Poslední kapitola pojednává o projektu Atlantropa, jenž kompletně zapadl v minulosti. Práce chronologicky předkládá problematiku podle jednotlivých odvětví a zároveň stručně vysvětluje principy, na nichž dané obnovitelné zdroje fungují.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis concerns the history of renewable resources on the territory of the United States of America in the years 1850 - 1970. Concurrently it maps the most significant milestones of technology used and indicates how individual renewable resources were applied and used in the context of time, with overlap to another countries, if it was essential. These are the most common renewable resources as solar energy, wind energy, water energy, geothermal energy and renewable resources in motorism. It concerns even some impacts on industrial development, agriculture, but also negative impacts in environment. Further there are described some unfinished projects, which had to lead to new renewable resources. Nuclear fusion is being outlined, thus the possibility of nontraditional solution of growing world energy demand, which has not been practically solved out. Last chapter focuses on project "Atlantropa", which has been completely set in the past. This thesis chronologically puts forward the problematics according to individual branches and simultaneously briefly explains the principles on which these renewable resources work.
