Inhaler technique and correct use of inhalers in treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá aspekty poskytování farmaceutické péče při správné manipulaci s inhalačními zařízeními, jejíž znalost je významná pro správnou interpretaci jejich použití při léčbě astma bronchiale a chronické obstrukční plicní nemoci. Práce dále sumarizuje registrované inhalátory na českém trhu, u každého inhalátoru shrnuje informace týkající se poučení pacienta o správném používání, stavbě inhalátoru, inhalační technice a údržbě. Ke všem registrovaným typům inhalátorů (Tlakové dávkované inhalátory, Tlakové dávkované inhalátory aktivované dechem, Respimat, Aerolizer, Breezhaler, Diskus, Easyhaler, Ellipta, Forspiro, Genuair, HandiHaler, Nexthaler, Spiromax, Turbuhaler, Twisthaler, Zonda) byly vytvořeny edukační materiály, které formou textu popisují jejich indikace, stavbu, zprovoznění, jednotlivé kroky inhalačního manévru a popis údržby. Popis stavby inhalátorů je doplněn formou fotografií, které byly za tímto účelem pořízeny. Dané edukační materiály jsou doplněny o vytvořené audiovizuální záznamy správných inhalačních manévrů a souhrnnou tabulku inhalačních manévrů.

Abstract:

The following thesis deals with theoretical and practical aspects of pharmaceutical care in patients with asthma bronchiale and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease using their inhaler devices correctly. Pharmacist’s knowledge about these aspects is crucial for adequate interpretation of correct inahler technique. Furthermore it summarizes all inhaler devices available on the czech market and also focuses on providing relevant information to the pacient on how the devices should be correctly used, describing the construction of each device, demonstrating correct inhaler techniques and showing proper maintanance of individual device. For each of the registred types of inhalers available on the czech market (Metred dose inhalers, Metred dose inhalers activated by breath, Respimat, Aerolizer, Breezhaler, Diskus, Easyhaler, Ellipta, Forspiro, Genuair, HandiHaler, Nexthaler, Spi-romax, Turbuhaler, Twisthaler, Zonda) educational materials were created. The materials focus on describing each inhaler’s indications, construction, commissioning, single steps in inhaler maneuver and description of the inhaler maintenance. Description of the construction of inhalers are demonstrated in photos made for this purpose. Lastly, videos were created to capture correct inhaler manuever and overview of steps of inhalation manuever in one single table.
