Motivation of foster care

Abstract:

Tématem mé bakalářské práce bylo zjistit, jakou nejčastější motivaci, jaké důvody, mají žadatelé o náhradní rodinnou péči. V práci bylo zkoumáno, proč lidé žádají o náhradní rodinnou péči a jak různorodé jsou jejich požadavky na dítě. Cílem práce bylo vyhodnotit, který nejčastější problém je důvodem podání žádosti o náhradní rodinnou péči. Jak dlouho se žadatelé rozhodovali, než vyhledali pomoc v podobě psychologické poradny a vyplnili žádosti o svěření dítěte do své péče. Výzkum v podobě dotazníkového šetření probíhal na pracovištích dvou psychologicko-poradenských zařízení. Prokazuje se, že nejčastějším důvodem podání žádosti, je neplodnost nejen žen, ale i mužů. Existuje několik metod a možností, jak se neplodné páry snaží počít. Pokud nejsou úspěšní, většinou žádají o náhradní rodinnou péči.

Abstract:

The theme of the bachelor thesis is to explore the most common motivation that adoption and foster care applicants have. The research reveals why the applicants decide for the adoption and the foster care and what various requests they have regarding the children. The aim of this work is to assess the most common problems that are the reason why people apply for the foster care, for how long the applicants had been deciding before they have found help at psychological services and filled in the application forms. The research method was a questionnare that the respondents completed at two different psychological counselling services. There is an evidence that the most common reason to apply for a child is sterility in women as well as in men. Besides biological way, there are several ways how to conceive the child. When it is not possible, people apply for the adoption or for the foster care.
