The assessment of the settings of the Five P program aimed at children from foster care

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje sociálně preventivnímu programu Pět P. Jejím cílem je zhodnotit současné výsledky programu a přinést konkrétní návrhy na změny současného nastavení programu tak, aby mohlo dojít k optimálnímu navržení nového programu určeného pro děti z náhradní rodinné péče. V teoretické části je představena historie programu, jeho cíle a nastavení průběžné evaluace. Prostor je věnován i institutu náhradní rodinné péče a s ním souvisejícím reformám. Podrobně je také charakterizován profil dětí z náhradní rodinné péče. Informace potřebné k dosažení stanovených cílů jsou získány za pomoci rozsáhlého výzkumu, jež má kvantitativní i kvalitativní část. Výsledky z kvantitativního výzkumu ukazují, že děti z náhradní rodinné péče mají ve sledovaných kategoriích větší problémy než děti z biologických rodin a je u nich také dokázána menší míra zlepšení než u dětí z biologických rodin. Kvalitativní výzkum se věnuje hlubšímu zhodnocení vhodnosti současného nastavení programu pro děti z náhradní rodinné péče. Přináší náměty na konkrétní změny v jeho současném nastavení, kterým by měla být věnována pozornost při nastavování nového programu.

Abstract:

The Master Thesis deals with a social preventive program Five P. Its objective is to evaluate the current results of the program and create specific proposals for changes to the current program settings in order to allow the optimal design of a new program aimed at children from foster care. The theoretical part presents the history of the program, its goals and setting of ongoing evaluation. The space is devoted to the definition of the institution of foster care and the related reforms. The profile of children from foster care is characterized in detail, too. Information necessary to achieve the proposed objectives are obtained through an extensive research consisting of a quantitative and a qualitative parts. The results of the quantitative research show that children of foster care have bigger problems in the relevant categories than children from biological families and they also prove lesser degree of improvement than the children from biological families. The qualitative research is devoted to a deeper assessment of the appropriateness of the current program settings for children in foster care. The research provides suggestions for specific changes in the current program settings, which should be paid attention when setting a new program.
