Abstract:

Práce se zabývá prožíváním sexuální zdrženlivosti u křesťanů z Evangelické církve metodistické. Reaguje tak mimo jiné na debatu ohledně vhodného způsobu výuky sexuální výchovy v České republice. Cílem výzkumu bylo lépe porozumět žité zkušenosti křesťanů, kteří se rozhodli pro odložení sexuálního života až do manželství. Byly provedeny rozhovory s pěti respondenty a analyzovány metodou interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. Hlavními vynořenými tématy byly “prožívání sexuální zdrženlivosti”, “strategie udržení sexuální zdrženlivosti” a “podpůrné systémy”. Vedle těchto bylo možné zachytit ivývojové schéma vztahu se sexuální zdrženlivostí. Hlavními podtématy pak byly důležitost supervize poskytované církví zdrženlivým párům; bezkontaktní fáze vztahu, kdy je zpočátku zcela vynechána fyzická intimita a je nutné společně v páru ustavit hranice zdrženlivosti a vytvářet strategie, jak se v těchto hranicích udržet. A také dvojí tlak, jenž zdrženliví křesťané zažívají jednak ze strany církve a jednak ze strany nezdrženlivých vrstevníků, který formoval prožívání tohoto období. Výsledky byly zasazeny do kontextu teorie sexuálních scénářů Johna Gagnona a Williama Simona a vývojové teorie Erika Eriksona.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with experiencing sexual restraint among Christians of the Evangelical Methodist Church. It reacts to the debate about appropriate method of teaching sex education in the Czech Republic. The objective of this research was to better understand lived experience of Christians who have decided to delay sex life until marriage. Interviews with five respondents were conducted and analyzed through the Interpretative phenomenological analysis. The super-ordinate themes were "Experiencing sexual restraint", "Strategies to maintain sexual restraint" and "Support systems". In addition it was also possible to capture the flowchart of a sexually restrained relationship. The main sub-themes were the importance of supervision provided by the Church to couples practicing sexual restraint and the non-contact phase of relationship when physical intimacy is initially completely omitted and it is necessary for the couple to establish boundaries of restraint and to create strategies in order to keep within these boundaries. And also the dual pressure from the Church and from their sexually unrestrained peers, experienced by sexually restrained Christians, which shaped their experience of this period. The results were integrated into the context of the sexual script theory formulated by John Gagnon and William Simon, and the theory of development formulated by Erik Erikson.
