Experience of therapists working with clients with eating disorders

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje prožívání psychoterapeuta při práci s klienty s poruchami příjmu potravy. Skládá se ze tří částí – teoretický základ, metodologie a výzkumná část. Teoretický základ je stručný, naopak stěžejní částí diplomové práce je část výzkumná. V té autorka na základě rozhovorů s terapeuty zkoumá prožívání těchto terapeutů při práci s klienty s poruchami příjmu potravy. Jedná se o výzkum kvalitativní za použití zakotvené teorie. Cílem práce je zjistit, jak terapeuti prožívají práci s klienty s poruchami příjmu potravy, případně zda ji prožívají jinak, než s klienty s jinými obtížemi. Dále autorka zkoumá, jaké strategie terapeuti používají pro zpracování těchto prožitků, případně co jim pomáhá se ve svém prožívání orientovat a zacházet s ním tak, aby mohli s klienty nadále pracovat.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the experience of the psychotherapist with working with the clients suffering various forms of eating disorders. It consists of three parts – the theoretical basis, methodology and the research. The theoretical basis is brief, as the thesis focuses on the practical, research part. In the research part based on interviews with therapists the author of the thesis is examining the therapists' experience with working with clients with eating disorders. It is a qualitative research based on a grounded theory. The goal of the thesis is to find out how the therapists experience working with these clients, or if their experience is any different from the one with working with patients with other kinds of disorders. This text examines what strategies are used by the therapists to process their experience and what is helping them to make sense of it and handle it in ways which will allow them to work with this type of clients.
