Altered states of consciousness - connection with mental health and possible usage in psychotherapy

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem změněných stavů vědomí indukovaných psychedelickou látkou psilocybin. Je zde popsán mechanismus účinků této látky na psychiku člověka a její možný terapeutický potenciál. Výzkumná část má za cíl zjistit, jakou zkušenost s touto psychedelickou látkou prožili respondenti, zda zkušenost vykazovala terapeutickou hodnotu a zda měla přínos do jejich života, se zaměřením na duševní zdraví. Výsledkem této práce je souhrn zážitků respondentů z hlediska jejich jednotlivých výpovědí a výčet společných témat zážitků, které respondenti prodělali pod vlivem psychedelické látky psilocybin.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of altered states of consciousness induced by the psychedelic substance called psilocybin. In the theoretical part, there is described the mechanism of the effects of this substance on the human psyche and its possible therapeutic value. The research part aims to find out what kind of experience the respondents had with this substance whether experience showed/reported its therapeutic value and if it brings benefits into their life, with focus on mental health. The result of this work is a summary of respondents experiences with regard to their individual testimonies and a list of common themes of experiences of these respondents induced by the psychedelic substance psilocybin.
