Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá mediální reprezentací volebního úspěchu Sudetoněmecké strany v květnu roku 1935 na stránkách stranického periodika Národní listy v období od 20. května 1935 do 25. května 1935. Cílem práce je pomocí metody diskurzivní analýzy dle Jamese Paula Geeho popsat, jak vypadal, a s pomocí teoretických východisek Johna B. Thompsona také jak byl utvářen, mediální obraz. Zároveň je záměrem práce definovat diskurzivní modely, které jsou v souvislosti se zvoleným tématem v Národních listech vyzdvihovány či naopak potlačovány. První část bakalářské práce je věnována historickému kontextu česko-německých vztahů, politickému systému první republiky a událostem, které květnovým volbám v roce 1935 v Československu přímo předcházely. V následující teoretické části jsou představeny teoretické koncepty, z nichž práce vychází. Metodologická část obsahuje popis výzkumného vzorku, použité metody diskurzivní analýzy a stanovení výzkumných otázek. V analytické části jsou následně zvolené metody diskurzivní analýzy aplikovány na výzkumný vzorek. Shrnuté poznatky a odhalené diskurzivní modely jsou představeny v závěru práce.

Abstract:

The presented bachelor thesis deals with the media representation of the success of the Sudeten German Party in parliamentary elections in May 1935 in party press Národní listy between 20th May 1935 and 25th May 1935. The aim of the thesis is to describe the media image and also reveal how it was created with the use of discourse analysis described by James P. Gee and the theoretical concepts defined by John B. Thompson. Another objective of this thesis is to define the discourse models, which are in relation to our theme promoted or suppressed in analysed texts. Historical context of Czech–German relationship is described in the first part of the bachelor thesis, as well as the political system of First Czechoslovak Republic and the events, which directly preceded the parliamentary elections in May 1935. The theoretical concepts that the thesis is based on are presented in the following part. Research sample, methods and questions are described in the methodological part. Chosen methods of discourse analysis are applied to research sample in analytical part. The summary of our findings with defined discourse models is presented in the final part of the thesis.
