Prevention of Burnout Syndrome in General Nurses on the Intensive Care Unit During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou prevence syndromu vyhoření u všeobecných sester na oddělení intenzivní péče během pandemie COVID-19. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. V teoretické části je nejprve popsán syndrom vyhoření a poté pandemie COVID-19. Poslední kapitola teoretické části je zaměřena na prevenci syndromu vyhoření. Empirická část je založena na kvalitativní výzkumu pomocí rozhovorů s respondenty. Cílem kvalitativního výzkumu je zjistit, zda se změnil pohled všeobecných sester na oddělení intenzivní péče na prevenci syndromu vyhoření v souvislosti s pandemií COVID-19. Druhým stanoveným cílem je zjistit, zda všeobecné sestry na oddělení intenzivní péče vnímaly výskyt syndromu vyhoření u sebe nebo u svých kolegů během pandemie COVID-19. Výzkumem bylo zjištěno, že pohled všeobecných sester na prevenci syndromu vyhoření pandemie COVID-19 spíše neovlivnila. Také bylo zjištěno, že více než polovina respondentů zpozorovala syndrom vyhoření u svých kolegů během pandemie COVID-19. Na základě zjištěných dat bylo vytvořeno doporučení pro praxi, které je určeno pro všeobecné sestry na oddělní intenzivní péče, zaměřující se na prevenci syndromu vyhoření.

Abstract:

The master’s thesis deals with the prevention of burnout syndrome in general nurses in the intensive care unit during the COVID-19 pandemic. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part first describes the burnout sydrome and then the COVID-19 pandemic. The last chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the prevention of burnout syndrome. The empirical part of the diploma thesis is based on qualitative research through interviews with respondents. The aim of the qualitative research is to find out whether the view of general nurses in the intensive care unit for the prevention of burnout syndrome in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic has changed. The second aim is to find out whether general nurses in the intensive care unit perceived the occurrence of burnout syndrome in themselves or in their colleagues during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research found that the view of general nurses on the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic burnout syndrome did not affect it. It was also found that more than half of the respondents observed burn-out syndrome in their colleagues during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the obtained data, a recommendation for practice was created, which is intended for general nurses in intensive care unit, focusing on the prevention of burnout syndrome.
