Animotherapy and its significance for today's seniors in the Usti Region

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se budeme věnovat animoterapii, jako jednomu ze způsobů podpůrné péče za pomoci zvířat, na populaci seniorů, pobývajících v domovech pro seniory. V této práci se zaměříme na felinoterapii, ornitoterapii, hipoterapii a další méně známé terapie využívané v domovech pro seniory. Ukážeme, že vliv animoterapie není zanedbatelný, že se s ní můžeme setkat v mnoha medicínských, psychologických či sociálních oborech. Svým ojedinělým přístupem k pacientovi často v mnoha případech boří komunikační bariéry mezi lékaři a pacienty. V teoretické části se zaměříme na historii, vývoj a význam animoterapie, charakterizujeme pojem stárnutí, stáří, co je seniorský věk, provedeme problematikou domovů pro seniory a zmapujeme situaci péče o seniory v Ústeckém kraji. V empirické části objasníme, jaký vliv má využití animoterapie u seniorů pobývajících v domovech pro seniory. Výzkum bude prováděn kvalitativním šetřením a to polostrukturovaným rozhovorem.

Abstract:

In the bachelor thesis we will deal with animal-assisted therapy as one of the supportive care methods to population of the elderly who stay in nursing homes. We will namely focus onfelinotherapy, bird-assisted therapy, hippotherapy and also other less known modes of animal-assisted therapies used in nursing homes for senior citizens. We will show that the influence of animal-assisted therapy is significant and that we might found it in several medical, psychological and social fields. It uniquely approaches the patients and often breaks communication barriers between patients and doctors. In the theoretical part we will focus on the history, development and significance of the animal-assisted therapy, we will define the term aging, old age, and elderly persons. Than we will go through the issue of senior housing and the situation of senior citizens care in the region of Ústí nad Labem. In the practical part we will make clear what the influence of animal-assisted therapy on people staying in nursing homes really is. The survey will be carried out by qualitative research method, namely semi-structured interview.
