Extension of Jenkins CI with job queue order change feature

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je rozšíření možností webového serveru pro podporu průběžnéintegrace – Jenkins – o úpravy fronty úloh čekajících na vykonání. Byl vytvořen zásuvnýmodul, který modifikuje uživatelské rozhraní u oprávněného uživatele, který může upravitpořadí úloh, a díky tomu urychlit provedení této naléhavější úlohy, což současná řešenídovolují pouze v určitých specifických případech (přednost úloh kratších, historicky méněúspěšných, vyvolaných externí službou apod.) nebo skrze změnu konfigurace. Výchozímbodem práce je analýza konkurenčních řešení této problematiky, analýza požadavkůa návrh zásuvného modulu. Výsledné řešení bylo implementováno především v jazyceJava, otestováno za použití JUnit, zařazeno do oficiálního seznamu pluginů a zveřejněnov Jenkins Plugin Manageru.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis has as its goal extension of features of Jenkins, a web server forcontinuous integration, by enabling changing order of items waiting for execution in thequeue. Plugin that modifies user interface of authorised user was created, thus allowingsooner execution of preferred item waiting in the queue. This is achieved with a change ofthe items’ order, which current plugins allow only in some specific cases (prioritizing jobsthat are shorter, historically less successful, raised by external service etc.) or througha configuration change. Analysis of other solutions concerning this problem, requirementanalysis and plugin draft constitute for this thesis a foundation upon which was imple-mented solution mainly in Java language, tested with the JUnit framework, accepted toJenkins’ official plugin listing and released in the Jenkins Plugin Manager.
