Protein Oct-4 je jedním z hlavních faktorů zodpovídajících za pluripotenci a sebeobnovu embryonálních kmenových buněk (ESCs). Významným předpokladem pro možné využití ESCs v terapii je udržení jejich genomové stability, která souvisí s mírou reparačních procesů v buňce. Abstract:
Oct-4 protein is one of the key factor responsible for pluripotency and self renewal of embryonic stem cells (ESCs). The main prerequisite for possible use of ESCs in therapy is the ability to maintain genome stability which is connected with the extent of repair processes in the cell.
