Abstract:
The novel One Flew over the Cuckoo{\crq}s Nest (1962) is ``a novel of its time{\crqq}. The author, Ken Kesey, chose a psychiatric ward as the setting for the novel. It is an inhuman place, intended as a metaphor of American society in the 1950s and 1960s. The dominant themes of the novel are a call for individual freedom and spontaneity. Román Kena Keseyho Přelet nad kukaččím hnízdem je {\clqq}dílem své doby{\crqq}. Děj románu se odehrává převážně za zdmi psychiatrické kliniky, která je metaforou Ameriky 50. a 60. let.
