Elements of Suggestopedia in Acquainting Preschool Children with the English Language

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce má teoreticko-aplikační charakter, zabývá se seznamováním dětí předškolního věku s anglickým jazykem s využitím prvků výukové metody sugestopedie. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na základní terminologii, východiska týkající se osvojování cizího jazyka a optimálním věkem pro začátek výuky. Dále popisuje zásady při výuce anglického jazyka v mateřské škole, klasifikaci výukových metod a představuje alternativní výukovou metodu sugestopedii. V praktické části je prezentována sada aktivit s orientací na seznamování dětí s anglickým jazykem s využitím sugestopedických prvků. Na základě evaluace byla zpracována doporučení pro praxi v mateřských školách.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis has a theoretical-applied character, it deals with acquainting preschool children with the English language using elements of the teaching method suggestopedia. The theoretical part focuses on the basic terminology, the background concerning the acquisition of a foreign language, and the optimal age for the beginning of teaching. It also describes the principles of English language teaching in kindergarten, the classification of teaching methods, and introduces the alternative teaching method suggestopedia. In the practical part, a set of activities is presented with an orientation towards acquainting children with the English language using suggestopedia elements. Based on the evaluation, recommendations for practice in kindergartens were developed.
