The role of regional innovation centers. Comparative case studies of 2 selected regions.

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je zhodnocení dopadu realizace regionálních inovačních strategií RIS3 na inovace a rozvoj Jihomoravského a Zlínského kraje v komparativní perspektivě. Hlavní metodou výzkumu je dokumentární analýza, zejména vyhodnocení implementace dokumentů RIS3 a jejich dopadu na inovace v Jihomoravském a Zlínském kraji, která je významně doplněná kvalitativními polostrukturovanými rozhovory s regionálními stakeholdery z různých sektorů. Následně je provedena komparace fungování a dopadů těchto dvou RIS3. V teoretické části je zachycen aktuální stav poznání v oblasti teorie RIS formou diskuse aktuální odborné literatury. Jsou zde uvedeny definice pojmu inovace, teoretického konceptu regionálního inovačního systému, prvků a typologie RIS a jejich zakotvení v inovační politice České republiky a Evropské unie. V empirické části jsou popsány a srovnány regionální inovační strategie RIS3 v Jihomoravském a ve Zlínském kraji a na základě případové studie jsou zde popsány a zhodnoceny role a přínos regionálních inovačních center pro rozvoj Jihomoravského a Zlínského kraje.

Abstract:

The main goal of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the impact of RIS3 documents on innovation and development of the South Moravian and Zlín regions in a comparative perspective. The main method of the research is the documentary analysis of RIS3 strategies in the South Moravian and Zlín regions, which is significantly complemented by qualitative semi-structured interviews with regional stakeholders from various sectors. Subsequently, a comparison of the functioning and impacts of these two RIS3 is made. The theoretical part discusses the current state of knowledge in the field of RIS theory in the form of the desk research. The definition of innovation, of the concept of regional innovation system, elements and typology of RIS and their anchoring in innovation policies of the Czech Republic and the EU were used as the frame for empirical research. The empirical part describes and compares the regional innovation strategies in the South Moravian and Zlín regions and based on a case study describes and evaluates the role and impact of regional innovation centers for the development of the South Moravian and Zlín regions.
