SWOT analysis and its online video tutorials

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit, jakým způsobem je realizována SWOT analýza v on-line video tutoriálech. Výzkum byl proveden za pomocí kvalitativní obsahové analýzy videí na serveru YouTube.com. Výsledky ukázaly, že se autoři videí během sestavení SWOT dopouští mnoha chyb. Závažnou chybou je přílišná subjektivita, která pramení z nedostatečné identifikace faktorů. Sestavitelé neprovádí důkladnou analýzu prostředí na základě podkladů a dat, faktory určují na základě svého úsudku a nepřiřazují jim žádnou prioritu. S chybějícím hodnocením faktorů a využitím výstupů se tak SWOT analýza stává pouhým nicneříkajícím seznamem.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out how SWOT analysis is implemented in online video tutorials. The research was conducted using qualitative content analysis of YouTube videos. The results show that the authors of those videos make many mistakes when using SWOT analysis. A major misuse is excessive subjectivity which stems from insufficient identification of factors. Practitioners do not carry out a thorough environmental scan based on background and data, they identify factors based on their own judgement and do not assign any priority to them. In the absence of assessment of factors and use of outputs, the SWOT analysis becomes a meaningless list.
