Social construction of needs of male victims of partner violence

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je popsat, jakým způsobem pomáhající pracovníci konstruují potřeby mužských obětí partnerského násilí. Zaměřuje se na způsoby, kterými pomáhající pracovníci, kteří pracují s oběťmi domácího násilí, kategorizují, stereotypizují a idealizují jejich potřeby. Teoretická část popisuje teorii sociálního konstruktivismu a jeho části, partnerské násilí a jeho formy a projevy a také zmiňuje pomáhající pracovníky, kteří mohou přicházet s obětmi partnerského násilí do kontaktu. Dále se práce věnuje mužským obětem partnerského násilí a také potřebám, dle teorie A. H. Maslowa. Výzkumnou metodou je kvalitativní šetření. Výzkumný vzorek tvoří sedm pomáhajících pracovníků, se kterými byl proveden polostrukturovaný rozhovor. V závěru práce je zodpovězena hlavní výzkumná otázka, která popisuje výsledky šetření. Z výsledků vyplývá, že byla ověřena platnost teorie sociálního konstruktivismu, neboť každý pomáhající pracovník konstruoval potřeby mužských obětí partnerského násilí individuálně.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelors thesis is to describe how helping workers construct the needs of male victims of partner violence. It focuses on the ways in which helping workers categorize, stereotype and idealize this type of needs. The theorethical part describes theory of social construction a its parts, partner violence and its forms and manifestations and also mentions helping workers who can be in touch with victims of partner violence. The thesis also deals with male victims of partner violence and their needs according to A. H. Maslow theory. The research method is a qualitative investigation. The research sample consists of seven helping workers who I conducted semi-structured interviews with. In conclusion is the main research question answered. The research found out that the theory of social construction is valid, because helping workers construct needs of male victims of partner violence differenty and individually.
