Ethical issues and dilemas in work with clients with dementia

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o etice při práci s klientem s demencí a o tom, s jakými problematickými situacemi se pracovníci setkávají při práci s klientem s demencí. V teoretické části jsem vysvětlila základní pojmy, zabývala se etikou v sociální práci a etickým kodexem. Následně jsem vysvětlila rozdíl mezi etickým problémem a etickým dilematem. Další část popisuje problémové okruhy a s nimi související dilemata pracovníků v praxi a jejich reakci na ně. Poslední kapitola popisuje etické zásady, kterých by se měli pracovníci držet. Metodologická část popisuje metodu a strategii výzkumu a vysvětluje volbu sběru dat a jednotky zkoumání. Nakonec se zde zabývám operacionalizací. Analytická část interpretuje výsledky výzkumu a odpovídá tak na hlavní výzkumnou otázku „S jakými konkrétními problémy a dilematy se sociální pracovníci a pracovníci v sociálních službách nejčastěji potýkají při práci s klientem s demencí a jak na ně reagují“.

Abstract:

This thesis discusses the etics of work with clients with dementia and problematic situations, that workers face when working with people with dementia. In the theoretical part I explained the basic terminology, dealt with ethics in social work and ethical code. Then I explained the difference between ethical problem and ethical dillema. The next section describes the problem areas and related dillemas of field workers and their reactions to them. The last chapter describes ethical rules, which should be applied by the workers. Methodological section describes the method and strategy of the research and explains the choice of data collection and research units. Finally I deal with operationalization. The analytical part interprets the results of research and answers the main research question – „What specific problems and dilemmas are social workers and social service workers mostly dealing with when working with clients with dementia and how they adress them.“
