Financial analysis and comparison of selected categories of small and medium enterprises

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce je provedení finanční analýzy malých a středních podniků a jejich následná komparace. První část je orientována na teoretické základy finanční analýzy. Zde jsou popsány hlavní pojmy nezbytné pro správné pochopení dané oblasti, jako je definice, předmět a pojetí finanční analýzy. Pozornost je také věnována přístupům k finanční analýze, jejím metodám, uživatelům a zdrojům informací. Druhá část pojednává podrobněji o metodách finanční analýzy - analýze poměrovými ukazateli, a o metodách mezipodnikového srovnání, které dále využívám při zpracování zkoumané problematiky. V poslední, praktické části provádím vlastní finanční analýzu vybraných malých a středních podniků z odvětví autodopravy a též mezipodnikové srovnání sledované skupiny podniků. Na základě výsledků finanční analýzy ověřuji platnost mnou stanovených hypotéz a dospěla jsem k závěru, že ačkoliv vykazuje každá skupina podniků v jistých oblastech svá specifika, existují mezi skupinami značné podobnosti. Dále mohu též konstatovat zjištění odlišnosti skutečné reality v rámci podniků od nám prezentovaných skutečností. Z výsledků mezipodnikového srovnání mohu soudit dominantní postavení malých podniků ve skupině malých a středních podniků, kdy jsem z tohoto důvodu v závěru práce navrhla středním firmám možné cesty pro zlepšení jejich pozice, např. zaměření se na snížení nákladů či snížení zadluženosti.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to performance the financial analyses of small and medium enterprises and their subsequent comparison. The first part is oriented to the theoretical basis of financial analysis. There are described the principal concepts necessary to understand this topic, such as definitions, subject, and the concept of financial analysis. It concentrates on the access to financial analysis, its methods, users and information resources. The second section deal with more details on the methods of financial analysis - analysis of the ratio indicators, and on the methods of intercompany comparison, which continued to be used in the processing of the issue researched. At last, the practical part I had made owns financial analysis of selected small and medium enterprises of road transport sector, and also the intercompany comparison of the reference group companies. On the basis of the results of financial analysis I´m testing the validity of the hypothesis and I came to the conclusion that, although each group of companies has in certain areas of their specificities, there exist significant similarities between the groups. Furthermore, I also noted differences determine of the actual reality of the enterprises of facts presented to us. The results of the comparison can I judge the dominance situation of small enterprises in a group small and medium enterprises, which I therefore at the end of the thesis conclude the proposed a medium enterprises to possible ways to improve their position, for example focus on reducing costs or debt reduction.
