Abstract:

Tato práce je kritickou rešerší debaty o ekologickém zemědělství jako strategii rozvoje v zemích globálního Jihu. Mezi regiony Jihu se zaměřuje především na Subsaharskou Afriku. V první části se snaží debatu zmapovat, popsat základní zdroje neshod mezi zastánci a odpůrci ekologického zemědělství. Dochází k závěru, že nejvýznamnějšími osami sporu je jednak otázka závislosti lidstva na syntetických hnojivech, jednak otázka potenciálu či rizika spojeného s tzv. Novou Zelenou revolucí v Africe. Tématem druhé části je tentýž spor na ideové rovině – jsou zde popsány rámcové předpoklady zejména odpůrců ekologického zemědělství (patří k nim např. chápání rozvoje a postoj k vědě) a argumentační postupy obou stran sporu. Ukazuje se, že to, jaké stanovisko daný autor k ekologickému zemědělství zaujímá je zakotveno hluboko v jeho předporozumění, které se výrazně promítají do práce s daty. V závěru jsou shrnuty předpoklady, za kterých má ekologické zemědělství potenciál být vhodným řešením potravinové krize.

Abstract:

This thesis is a critical review of the current debate about organic agriculture and its potential as a development strategy in the global South. It is especially focused on Sub-Saharan Africa. The first part of it is trying to analyse the debate on the more pragmatic base, basic sources or disagreement between proponents and opponents of organic agriculture are described. The most important of these are the issue of the humankinds dependence on synthetic fertilizers and the issue of the potential or risks connected to the New Green Revolution in Africa. The second part deals with the same topic, but on the ideological base – it describes the framing assumptions of the opponents of organic agriculture (such as understanding of the development paradigms and the attitude towards science) and also the way the arguments are being presented on both sides. The opinion of each author is deeply rooted in his or hers pre-understandings, which influence the way this author deals with and interprets the data. The assumptions, under which organic agriculture does have the potential to be a solution for the food crisis are summarized in the end.
