Quality of Life Elderly Living at Home and Inpatient Facilities

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit subjektivně vnímanou kvalitu života u seniorů žijících v domácím a pobytovém zařízení a stanovit, zda se tyto dvě skupiny od sebe v hodnocení kvality života liší. Metodika: Realizovaná studie byla vedená jako kvantitativní šetření. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 200 respondentů ve věku 65 let a více, z toho 100 dotazovaných seniorů žijících v domácím prostředí a 100 dotazovaných seniorů z pobytového zařízení ve Zlínském kraji. Data byla sbírána od ledna 2020 do května 2020, a to standardizovaným dotazníkem World Health Organization Quality of Life Old (WHOQOL-OLD). V dotazníku je 24 otázek, které obsahují 6 oblastí důležitých pro seniory. Výsledky: Výsledky kvantitativního výzkumného šetření prokázaly, že existují rozdíly v některých oblastech u seniorů v domácím prostředí a pobytovém zařízení. Statisticky významné rozdíly se vyskytly ve dvou doménách, u kterých jsme zjišťovali kvalitu života seniorů. Rozdíly byly nalezeny v doméně "Naplnění" a v doméně "Sociální zapojení". Bylo zjištěno, že subjektivně vnímaná kvalita života seniorů mezi dvěma vzorky respondentů byla na stejné úrovni. Z výzkumu je zřetelné, že senioři z domácího prostředí dosahovali ve výše uvedených oblastech lepších výsledků než senioři žijící v pobytovém zařízení. Závěr: S postupným stárnutím se mění kvalita života, která je determinovaná mnohými zátěžovými situacemi, a to od změn na zdravotním stavu, přes vyrovnání se s novými omezeními, až po přijetí nových rolí. Důležité je věnovat pozornost aspektům ovlivňujícím život seniorského věku. Jejich hodnocení přispívá ke zkvalitnění péče o tuto věkovou skupinu, pomáhá určit, na co se má společnost zaměřit a v čem pomáhat seniorům. Naše společnost by neměla zapomínat na žádné seniory, ať žijí v domovech pro seniory nebo v domácím prostředí. To, že penzista žije v domácím prostředí, neznamená, že bude šťastnější a spokojenější než ten, který z různých důvodů bydlí mimo svůj domov. Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this theses was to determine the subjectively perceived quality of life of the elderly people living at home or at retirement home and to determine whether these two groups differ from each other in the assessment of the quality of life. Method: The implemented study was conducted as a quantitative survey. The research group consisted of 200 respondents aged 65 and over, of which 100 of the interviewed elderly were living at home and 100 at a retirement home in the Zlín Region. The data were collected from January 2020 to May 2020 using a standardized World Health Organization Quality of Life Old (WHOQOL-OLD) questionnaire. There are 24 questions in the questionnaire, which contain 6 areas important for the elderly. Results: The results of the quantitative research showed that there are differences in some areas for the elderly at home environment and for the elderly at a retirement home. Statistically significant differences occurred in two domains, in which we inquired the quality of life of the elderly. The differences were found in the "Fulfillment" domain and in the "Social Involvement" domain. It was found out that the subjectively perceived quality of life of the elderly between the two samples of respondents was at the same level. It is clear from the research that the elderly living at home environment showed slightly better results in the above areas than the elderly living in a retirement home. Conclusion: With the gradual aging, the quality of life changes, which is determined by many stressful situations, from changes in health condition, through coping with the new constraints, to the acceptance of new roles. It is important to pay attention to the aspects influencing the life of the elderly. The evaluation of these aspects contributes to the improvement of care for this population, helps to determine what society should focus on and in what ways we should help the elderly. Only the active and satisfied elderly can age well. Our society should not forget any group of the elderly, whether they live in retirement homes or at home environment. Just because the elderly live at home does not mean they will be happier and more content than someone who has to live away from home for various reasons.
