Caregivers in social services and the death of a client

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o smrti klientů domovů pro seniory a terénní pečovatelské služby ve vztahu k pracovníkům v sociálních službách. Teoretická část práce popisuje pojetí smrti v naší (české, evropské) společnosti, objasňuje klíčové pojmy a vymezuje cílovou skupinu. V práci je popsán vztah pečujících osob ke klientům, jejich setkávání se se smrtí těchto klientů v rámci výkonu své práce a důležitost schopnosti regulace vlastních emocí a potřeba podpory. Dále práce řeší možnosti vzdělávání v tématu smrti klienta. Ve výzkumné části je provedena analýza a interpretace fenomenologických rozhovorů s jednotlivými pracujícími v sociálních službách. Výzkumná část obsahuje doslovné úryvky rozhovorů. Získané poznatky, jak pracují pečující osoby v sociálních službách se smrtí klienta jsou popsány v závěrečné zprávě, která propojuje teoretickou část s výzkumnou částí.

Abstract:

This thesis is about the death of clients of retirement homes and outreach care services in relation to social service workers. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the concept of death in our (Czech, European) society, clarifies the key terms and defines the target group. The thesis describes the relationship of carers to clients, their encounter with the death of these clients in the performance of their work, and the importance of the ability to regulate their own emotions and the need for support. Furthermore, the thesis addresses the possibilities of education on the subject of client death. In the research part, an analysis and interpretation of phenomenological interviews with individual workers in social services is conducted. The research section contains verbatim parts of interviews. Gained knowledges about how caregivers work in social services with the death of a client are described in the final report, which links the theoretical part with the research part. Keywords:
