From the initial enthusiasm to the subsequent disillusionment or why floorball did not introduce a new playing time

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl zmapovat z dostupných zdrojů šestiletý vývoj tématu realizace konceptu „Future of Floorball“, který charakterizuje především zavedení nového hracího času, a postoje mezinárodní florbalové federace k němu. Úvodní kapitoly této práce přinášejí pohled na sportovní federaci jako politickou organizaci a vlivy v ní působící, především v podobě zájmových skupin, dále je detailně představeno prostřední mezinárodního florbalu a definování důležití aktéři. Na ně navazuje kvalitativní obsahová analýza datového souboru vytvořeného z veřejně dostupných materiálů uveřejněných mezinárodní florbalovou federací. Na základě následného zkoumání jsou odhaleny změny postoje IFF, identifikují se zájmové skupiny, které mohly mít vliv na konečné rozhodnutí a zkoumá se, zda a jak se vliv projevil – tzn. hledá se korelace mezi postoji jednotlivých skupin a výsledkem konečného rozhodnutí. Výsledkem zkoumání je identifikace těch zájmových skupin, které měly vliv na konečný výsledek.

Abstract:

This work aims to map from available sources the six-year development of the theme of the implementation of the "Future of Floorball" concept, which is mainly characterized by the introduction of a new playing time, and the attitude of the international floorball federation towards it. The opening chapters of this thesis provide an overview of the sports federation as a political organization and the influences operating in it, mainly in the form of interest groups, and the intermediate level of international floorball is also presented in detail and important actors are defined. They are followed by a qualitative content analysis of a dataset created from publicly available materials published by the International Floorball Federation. Based on subsequent research, changes in the IFF's position are revealed, interest groups that may have influenced the final decision are identified, and whether and how the influence manifested itself - i.e. a correlation is sought between the attitudes of individual groups and the result of the final decision. The result of the investigation is the identification of those interest groups that had an influence on the final result.
