Influence of family and other factors on successfull resocialization of offenders

Abstract:

Tato studie zjišťuje souvislosti mezi počtem přítomných protektivních a rizikových faktorů pachatele a dvěma odlišnými způsoby hodnocení procesu resocializace a reintegrace propuštěných pachatelů do společnosti. Proces byl hodnocen pracovníky Probační a mediační služby a pachateli samotnými. Výzkum byl proveden na vzorku 79 pachatelů majetkové trestné činnosti ve věku od 19 do 61 let (M=36,5; SD=9,72), kteří se účastnili studie „Psychologické aspekty reintegrace a resocializace pachatelů do společnosti“ Psychologického ústavu AV ČR. Vztah počtu faktorů k žádnému způsobu hodnocení resocializace nebyl nalezen. V případě hodnocení pracovníkem PMS se ukázala významná drogová a hráčská závislost, která měla na úspěch v tomto procesu negativní dopad. V případě subjektivního hodnocení měla na vnímání problémovosti situace propuštěných negativní vliv přítomnost dítěte v domácnosti. Výsledky jsou následně diskutovány s ohledem na limity studie. V závěru je uvedena potřeba věnovat se podrobněji aspektům celého procesu resocializace, nikoliv jen výsledné míře recidivy.

Abstract:

The current study examines relations between number of present offender’s protective and risk factors and 2 different evaluation methods of resocialization and reintegration process. The process was assessed by probation officers and offenders themselves. Research was conducted on 79 property crime offenders ages 19 to 61 (M=36,5; SD=9,72). The offenders participated in research entitled „Psychological aspects of reintegration and resocialisation of offenders into the society“ conducted by Institute of Psychology AoS CZ. The present research have not found any relationship between the number of factors and both of the methods of assessment. More detailed analyses revealed significant relationship of assessment of probation officer with drug abuse history a gambling history. These two factors negatively influence the assessment of the offender. In case of subjective evaluation living with children had negative impact on the subjective perception of the reintegration process. Results are discussed with regard to the limits of the study. In conclusion the need for detailed investigation of whole process of resocialization, not just final rates of recidivism is emphasized.
