Trade Policy Comparison - the USA and the EU

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce „Komparace obchodní politiky USA a EU bude srovnání obchodních politik EU a USA se zaměřením se na nástroje ovlivňující dovoz a na některé zvláštní aspekty těchto politik ve vztahu k rozvojovým zemím. K naplnění cíle práce jsem si zvolila období v rozmezí let 2007 – 2011, ze kterého bude patrná současná podoba těchto politik. Mým úkolem bude nalézání a identifikování nejen rozdílů, které ve využívání vybraných nástrojů v obchodních politikách USA a EU existují, ale i charakteristik, jež jsou pro oba celky společné. První kapitola se zabývá vybranými zástupci řadícími se do skupiny autonomních nástrojů. Druhá kapitola pak pojednává o zvláštních aspektech obchodní politiky těchto celků vůči rozvojovým zemím, konkrétně o všeobecném systému preferencí a zvláštních preferenčních režimech, kterými jak EU tak USA disponují.

Abstract:

The aim of the submitted thesis „Trade Policy Comparison – the USA and the EU“ is to compare trade policies which have been used by the USA and the EU recently with the focus on measures affecting imports and on some of the specific aspects of these policies in relation to developing countries. In order to fulfill the aim of this thesis, I chose the period 2007 – 2011 from which the present form of these policies is evident. My task will be to find and identify not only differences between trade policies but also features which are common to the USA and the EU. The first chapter deals with chosen measures which are part of group that is called autonomous measures. The second chapter concerns particular aspects of trade policies applied against developing countries, specifically general system of preferences and special preferential regimes, which both the USA and the EU have at their disposal.
