Perception of meaning in life in the period of emerging adulthood

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na téma životní smysluplnosti v období vynořující se dospělosti, konkrétně na význam, zdroje a faktory, které mají v tomto období na životní smysluplnost vliv. Práce byla zpracována kvalitativní metodou. Formou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru byly provedeny tři rozhovory, které byly následně analyzovány pomocí interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. Výsledná témata popisují význam životního smyslu jako přínos v oblastech explorace, orientace na sebe a změně směřování. Mezi významnými zdroji smysluplnosti v tomto období vzešla témata jako studium a příprava na budoucí povolání, vztahy a trávení volného času. Faktory ovlivňující smysluplnost byly rozděleny na pozitivní a negativní činitele. Všechna tato témata spolu souvisí a společně interagují, čímž vytváří ucelený průběh vnímání smysluplnosti v tomto období. Některé výsledky této práce souhlasí s výsledky předešlých výzkumných studií, jiné výsledky toto téma doplňují o poznatky nové. Celkově výsledky přibližují prožívání životní smysluplnosti danými jedinci v období vynořující se dospělosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the problematics of meaning in life during emerging adulthood, particularly on the area of significance, sources and factors that influence meaningfulness in the examined life stage. The writing was prepared using the qualitative method. Three interviews were conducted in a form of semi-structured interviews which were subsequently analyzed by the interpretive phenomenological analysis. The resulting topics describe the importance of meaning in life as a benefit in the areas of exploration, self-orientation, and reorientation. As the most important sources of meaningfulness, topics such as study and preparation for the future employment, relations, and leisure time were identified. Factors influencing meaningfulness were divided into two main groups - positive and negative. All of the elaborated topics are interconnected; they mutually interact and thus generate perception complexity of meaningfulness in the examined life stage. Certain outcomes of this thesis are equivalent to the results of previous researches, other supplement the topic with an additional knowledge. Overall, the results approximate the experience of life meaningfulness by given individuals in the period of emerging adulthood.
