The discourse on nationality in the context of the czech and slovak music

Abstract:

Dissertation The discourse on nationality in the context of the czech and slovak music, presents essays on the national music of the Slovaks in the prevalence of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The basic concepts are national music and its process of internalization in society, which has the main foundation in the chapter „Vzťahy.“ In the chapter „Symboly“, we discuss the national music of the Slovaks in the level of narrative and imagination, how the symbol of the nation enters into the expressive compositions of the authors, which we demonstrate on the basis of the analysis of the work Dolu Váhom, of Alexander Moyzes. The origins offer a comparison and appreciation of national music and Slovak musical modernity as stylistically characteristic compositional categories, from which we observe the formation of national specificities in music and culture. Finally, in the „Koncepcie“ chapter, national music is placed in the position of the mentioned discourses, which organize the issue of national music into contexts. Part of the work is also a reflection on the work of Romer Berger Transformácie, as a reminder of the equilibrium with the context of the time and the musical communication.

Abstract:

Disertační práce „Diskurz o národnosti v kontexte českej a slovenskej hudby“ předkládá pojednání o národní hudbě Slováků v převaze období první Československé republiky. Základními kategoriemi jsou národní hudba a její proces internalizace ve společnosti, která má hlavní základ v kapitole „Vzťahy.“ V kapitole „Symboly“ pojednáváme o národní hudbě Slováků v rovině narace a imaginace, a to jakým způsobem vstupuje symbol národa do kompozičních prostředků autorů, co demonstrujeme na základě analýzy díla „Dolu Váhom,“ Alexandra Moyzesa. „Východiská,“ nabízejí srovnání a vyhodnocení národní hudby a slovenské hudební moderny, jako stylotvorných charakteristických kompozičních kategorií, ze základu kterých, pozorujeme vytváření národnostních specifik v hudbě a kultuře. V kapitole „Koncepcie,“ je národní hudba postavená do pozice zmiňovaných diskurzů, které uspořádají problematiku národní hudby, do širších kontextů a souvislostí. Součástí práce je i úvaha nad dílem Romana Bergera Transformácie, jako memento vyrovnávaní se s kontextem doby a hudebním sdělením.
