Diagnostic of vocabulary in preschool children

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá diagnostikou slovní zásoby u dětí předškolního věku. Konkrétně je zaměřena na komparaci aktivní slovní zásoby. Byly vytyčené dvě hypotézy, a to provedení komparace aktivní slovní zásoby u dětí intaktních oproti dětem v logopedické třídě mateřské školy a provedení komparace aktivní slovní zásoby dětí běžné MŠ, které měly odklad školní docházky oproti aktivní slovní zásobě dětí nastupujících do školy v řádném termínu. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, teoretické a praktické. Část teoretická je rozdělena na 3 kapitoly. V první kapitole jsou stanovena teoretická východiska komunikace, ve druhé je zpracován samotný vývoj řeči a slovní zásoby u intaktního dítěte a v závěru teoretické části je zpracovány vybrané druhy narušené komunikační schopnosti. Praktická část je zpracována formou kvantitativního výzkumu za použití testu, jehož výsledky jsou zpracovány do tabulek a grafů. Aktivní slovní zásoba dětí se vyšetřovala pomocí vysvětlování významů daných slov. V současné době je snaha použitý test adaptovat na české prostředí, protože v České republice nyní chybí diagnostický materiál tohoto typu.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with diagnostics of vocabulary of preschool children putting primary emphasis on comparison of actively used words and phrases. To carry out the research, two hypotheses have been suggested. First hypothesis lies in comparison of active vocabulary between healthy children and language impaired children attending specialized kindergarten classes. Second hypothesis draws comparison of active vocabulary between preschool children whose compulsory schooling has been postponed and children without postponement of school attendance. The work is divided into two parts, the theoretical one and the practical one. The theoretical part is subdivided into three sections. In the first section, theoretical principles of communication are explained. Next part describes speech and vocabulary development of healthy children. The conclusion of the theoretical section relates to selected kinds of disrupted communication skills. The practical part is based on a quantitative research. Results of a test, which has been employed, are compiled into charts and graphs. Active vocabulary of children has been examined using the method of word meaning explanation. Nowadays, it is aimed to adapt the test to the Czech environment for there is a considerable lack of diagnostic material of this kind.
