Knowledge of Intensive and Emergency Care Nurses in the Matter of Nosocomial Infections

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zjišťuje míru znalostí sester pracujících na odděleních intenzivní a resuscitační péče v oblasti nozokomiálních nákaz a jejich prevence. Základním tématem práce je nozokomiální nákaza jako indikátor kvality péče o klienta, který je ohrožen vznikem této komplikace základního onemocnění. Nejvíce jsou ohroženi pacienti na odděleních JIP/ARO. Zdůrazňuje oblasti, kde může z důvodů nevědomosti, nedbalosti nebo lhostejnosti zdravotnického personálu vzniknout poškození zdraví pacienta touto komplikací. Analýza a interpretace získaných dat poskytuje informace o oblastech, kde mají sestry znalostní rezervy a je nutnost nadále zvyšovat jejich odborné znalosti a upevňovat správné postoje. Tato bakalářská práce je příspěvkem jak pro management a vedoucí pracovníky zdravotnických zařízení, tak i pro sestru jako poskytovatele odborné péče na vysoké úrovni.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to determine the level of knowledge of intensive and emergency care nurses concerning nosocomial infections and the prophylaxis of them. The main theme of the work is the nosocomial infection as an indicator of the nursing care quality and at the same time as a risk it presents for the client who is endangered by the complication of his/her primary disease. The patients most in danger are those placed in intensive care units and accident and emergency departments. The thesis stresses the areas which can cause harm to the health of a patient due to ignorance, negligence or disinterest of the health care personnel. An analysis and interpretation of the data obtained by the survey offers information on areas where we detected a knowledge shortage in nurses and thus the need to increase their technical knowledge and consolidate the right approaches. This bachelor’s thesis should be of benefit not only to the management and officials of health care institutions but also for the nurse as a top quality health care provider.
