V této diplomové práci je na úvod popsána stručná historii vzniku sociálních služeb a současně nastíněna aktuální situace týkající se péče v sociálních službách i s výhledem do budoucnosti. Jako další kapitola byla zaměřena na formy pomoci a péče v České republice, ať už pomoc a péči poskytovanou státem a státními institucemi, ale i prostřednictvím sociálních služeb.
