The Influence of Selected Gorbachev's Measures from the Second Half of the 1980s on the Fall of the Soviet Union

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá analýzou Gorbačovových opatření v rámci glasnosti, která zapříčinila společensko-politické změny. Zkoumány jsou také reformy perestrojky, které s nimi úzce souvisely. Stěžejní části je analýza vlivu reforem glasnosti na pád Sovětského svazu. V teoretické části práce hodnotí snahy o uvolnění hospodářsko-společenských a politických vztahů. K největšímu posunu dochází za vlády N. Chruščova. V praktické části práce vyhodnocuje vybrané reformy přestavby z druhé poloviny 80. let 20. století. Ekonomická opatření v rámci perestrojky byla v konečném důsledku neúspěšná a hospodářskou krizi ještě prohloubila. Reformy podcenily vedlejší účinky a jejich povaha nebyla slučitelná s tržními prvky. Opatření v rámci glasnosti společně s demokratizací úspěšné byly, ale přesahovaly rámec původního úmyslu glasnosti. Okrajově je také analyzována zahraniční politika Sovětského svazu v druhé polovině 80. let 20. století. Práce z části potvrzuje hypotézu, že opatření v rámci glasnosti přispěla k pádu SSSR.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the analysis of the Gorbachev's measures within the glasnost following the economic situation and the social-political changes that led to the breakup of the Soviet Union. In the theoretical part, the thesis evaluates the efforts to liberate social-political relations. The biggest progress was made by Nikita S. Khrushchev. The practical part of the thesis evaluates the selected reconstruction reforms from the second half of the 1980 s. The economic measures of perestroika were in the end unsuccessful and deepened the economic crisis. On the other hand, reforms of glasnost along with democratization were successful, but they were beyond the original intention. The thesis partly confirms the hypothesis that measures within the glasnost contributed to the fall of the USSR. This thesis also deals with the reasons, why these selected reforms were unsuccessful and also points on other possible causes of the fall of the USSR for example foreign policy There we can classify economical situation, foreign policy or the fall of the regime in the satellite countries.
