Credit card as a cashless payment instrument

Abstract:

My thesis entitled „Credit Card as a cashless payment instrument“ is regarding credit cards as a payment instrument being an integral part of domestic and international non-cash transactions. The thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, entitled „Theoretical Resources of the Research“, the payments are charecterized in general terms. Moreover, the specific part of payments is being focused on – the non-cash payments. The remaining part of the chapter introduces the development and history of credit cards, describes them in general and discusses the requirements that a credit card should meet. The second chapter is analytical. Keeping the objective, the chapter analyzes and researches the use of credit cards in terms of selected banks (Slovenská sporiteľňa, Tatra banka). The third chapter evaluate the comparative analysis and provides suggestions for a client and banks, in order to increase the interest in using of credit cards and more information about them.

Abstract:

Moja bakalárska práca s názvom „Platobná karta ako nástroj bezhotovostného styku“ pojednáva o platobných kartách v zmysle platobného nástoja ako neoddeliteľnej súčasti domáceho aj zahraničného bezhotovostného platobného styku. Práca sa delí na tri kapitoly. V prvej kapitole pod názvom „Teoretické východiská skúmanej problematiky“ charakterizujem platobný styk ako taký zo všeobecného hľadiska. Ďalej sa zameriavam na jednu jeho súčasť, konkrétne na bezhotovostný platobný styk. Zvyšná časť prvej kapitoly zoznamuje so vznikom a históriou platobných kariet vo svete, charakterizuje platobné karty ako také a rozoberá potrebné náležitosti, ktoré by platobná karta mala obsahovať. V poslednej časti prvej kapitoly tiež rozdeľujem platobné karty a rozoberám ich použitie. Druhá kapitola je analytická. Držiac sa cieľu práce analyzuje a skúma použitie platobných kariet v podmienkach vybraných bánk, konkrétne v Slovenskej sporiteľni a Tatra banke. Štatisticky zachytáva transakcie a výbery prostredníctvom platobných kariet na Slovensku a porovnáva debetné a kreditné karty v podmienkach určených bankami. Tretia kapitola hodnotí vykonanú porovnávaciu analýzu a poskytuje návrhy pre klienta a banky, aby tak prispeli k väčšiemu záujmu o platobné karty a k vyššej informovanosti.
