Reading about art for children

Abstract:

Literatura o umění pro děti a mládež je v rámci předložené disertační práce nahlížena jako jedna z možných cest zprostředkování umění, která může mít na recipienty nezanedbatelný vliv, podnítit zájem o výtvarnou kulturu a přivést je do galerie. Současná česká produkce tohoto typu literatury má vzestupnou tendenci, vychází mnoho kvalitních knih (např. František Frank Frantík Francois Kupka, To bych zvládl taky: Umění moderny v komiksech, Proč obrazy nepotřebují názvy, Jak se dělá galerie, O smutné továrně, K čemu jsou architekti a další). Disertační práce se v teoretické rovině zabývá dětskou literaturou o umění v historii i současnosti, dále jsou v disertační práci nastíněny možnosti zprostředkování umění skrze médium knihy. Rovněž je rozebrána funkce nakladatelů, autorů, čtenářů a výtvarné zpracování těchto knih. Základem práce je přehled původních publikací pro děti a mládež o umění a vytvoření typologie těchto publikací. Zahrnuty jsou i možnosti využití uvedených knih ve výuce výtvarné výchovy a v galerijní pedagogice.

Abstract:

In the dissertation thesis, literature on art for children and youth can be seen as one of the paths to successful art mediation, which can have a big influence on the recipient. According to the writer’s assumption it can also stimulate interest in art culture and bring readers to the gallery. Contemporary Czech production of this type of literature is steadily growing. Many quality books are published (eg František Frank Frantík Francois Kupka, To bych zvládl taky: Umění moderny v komiksech, Proč obrazy nepotřebují názvy, Jak se dělá galerie, O smutné továrně, K čemu jsou architekti and others). Theoretical part of the dissertation thesis is concerned about children’s literature on art history and contemporary art. Fur-thermore, the dissertation thesis is outlining the possibilities of mediation of art through books. The function of the publishers, authors, readers and the visual de-sign of these books are also discussed. The basis of this thesis is firstly an overview of original publications about art for children and youth and secondly creation of new typology of these publications. At last, there is also a summary of the possibili-ties of using these books about art for children in art education and gallery educa-tion.
