Perception of life in the Ústí Region of the Czech Republic through the eyes of gay men with HIV

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o vnímání vlastního života populací homosexuálně orientovaných mužů, kteří jsou nakažení virem HIV, žijí v Ústeckém kraji a jsou registrováni jako infikované osoby. Dále pak pojednává o jejich vnímání sociálních služeb v kraji a služeb sociální práce. Teoretická část se zaměřuje nejen na popis viru HIV a nemoci AIDS z obecné roviny, mechanismu fungování viru, léčby a dalších specifik onemocnění, ale také popisuje homosexualitu, její vznik a souvislost s virem a dále související pojem stigmatizace, neboť lze vyvodit, že virus sociálně stigmatizuje ty, kteří jím trpí. Empirická část si klade za cíl zjistit vnímání života gayů s HIV virem v Ústeckém kraji jejich očima. Formou polo-strukturovaných rozhovorů se proto zabývá jejich subjektivním hodnocením, názory a spokojeností z obecné životní roviny a dále také související otázkou stigmatizace.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the perception of their own lives by populations of homosexually oriented men who are infected with HIV virus, live in the Ustecky region and are registered as an infected persons. It also deals with their perception of social services in the region and social work services. The theoretical part focuses not only on the description of HIV and AIDS in general, the mechanism of the virus, treatment and other specifics of the disease, but also describes homosexuality, its origin and connection with the virus, and the related concept of stigmatization, as it can be concluded that the virus socially stigmatizes those who suffer from it. The empirical part aims to determine the perception of life of gays with HIV in the Ustecky Region through their eyes. In the form of semi-structured interviews, it will therefore deals with their subjective evaluation, opinions and satisfaction from the general level of life, as well as the related issue of stigmatization.
