Communication skills of a health care social worker

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce nese název Komunikační dovednosti zdravotně sociálního pracovníka. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a výzkumnou a skládá se ze sedmi kapitol. Cílem práce je zjistit a popsat, jak interpretují zdravotně sociální pracovníci své komunikační dovednosti s pacientem ve vybraném zdravotnickém zařízení. Teoretická část se zabývá komunikací, významem komunikace a jejím cílem, funkcemi a zásadami efektivní komunikace, komunikačním procesem, verbální a neverbální komunikací, neverbálním signálem a komunikačními dovednostmi. Dále jsou zde obsaženy pojmy zdravotně sociální práce, etické principy a etický kodex zdravotně sociální práce. Dále náplň práce, činnosti, role, vlastnosti zdravotně sociálního pracovníka a také kompetence zdravotně sociálního pracovníka a multidisciplinární tým. Poté se v teorii nachází komunikace v rámci zdravotně sociální práce a komunikační způsobilost zdravotně sociálního pracovníka, hranice ve vztahu zdravotně sociálního pracovníka s pacientem. Cílem výzkumu mé bakalářské práce je zjistit a popsat, jak interpretují zdravotně sociální pracovníci své komunikační dovednosti s pacientem ve vybraném zdravotnickém zařízení. Pro naplnění tohoto cíle je zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná strategie a ke sběru dat technika polostrukturovaných rozhovorů realizovaných se zdravotně sociálními pracovníky Městské nemocnice a Léčebny dlouhodobě nemocných. Získaná data jsou analyzována otevřeným kódováním s využitím výzkumné metody zakotvené teorie. V poslední kapitole se nachází diskuse, výsledky výzkumu a odpovědi na hlavní a dílčí výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

The title of the bachelor thesis is Communication skills of health care social worker. The thesis is divided into theoretical and research part and consists of six chapters. The aim of the thesis is to identify and describe how health social workers interpret their communication skills with patients in a selected health care facility. The theoretical part deals with communication, the meaning of communication and its purpose, functions and principles of effective communication, communication process, verbal and non-verbal communication, non-verbal signal and communication skills. It also covers the concepts of health social work, ethical principles and the code of ethics of health social work. In addition, the job description, activities, roles, characteristics of the health care social worker as well as the competencies of the health social worker and the multidisciplinary team. After that, the theory includes communication in health care social work and communication competence of health care social worker, boundaries in health social worker-patient relationship. The aim of my undergraduate thesis research is to identify and describe how health care social workers interpret their communication skills with patients in a selected health care setting. In order to achieve this goal, a qualitative research strategy is chosen and a semi-structured interview technique is used to collect data, conducted with health care social workers of the Municipal Hospital and the Hospital for the Long-Term Ill. The collected data is analyzed by open coding using grounded theory research method. The last chapter contains the discussion, research results and answers to the main and sub-research questions.
