The reading comprehension of pupils of the first year of elementary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Čtení s porozuměním u žáků 1. ročníku ZŠ se soustřeďuje na vývoj čtení s porozuměním u žáků prvního ročníku základní školy, přičemž důležitou sledovanou proměnnou je užitá metoda prvopočátečního čtení. Teoretická část diplomové práce terminologicky vymezuje čtení a porozumění textu a charakterizuje čtenářskou gramotnost v kontextu gramotnosti funkční. Následně popisuje dvě nejčastěji využívané metody čtení ve vzdělávací soustavě České republiky. Blíže odkrývá možnosti hodnocení čtenářského výkonu, přičemž se zabývá jak kvantitativními, tak kvalitativními znaky čtení s důrazem na kategorizaci chyb podle M. M. Clayové. V této části práce je vysvětlen princip měření očních pohybů přístrojem zvaným eyetracker. V neposlední řadě práce srovnává výsledky mezinárodního výzkumu PIRLS a představuje soudobé kurikulární dokumenty. Empirická část využívá výsledky provedených analýz, z nichž je porovnán vývoj čtenářských dovedností u obou skupin žáků v průběhu prvního ročníku. Při komparaci výsledků čtení analyticko-syntetické a genetické metody jsme využili všech aspektů vztahujících se k hodnocení přečteného textu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis called The reading with comprehension of pupils of the first year of elementary school focuses on the development of reading with comprehension skills of the pupils during the first year of elementary school, where the important focused variable is the method used of the initial of reading. The theoretical part of the thesis is terminologically divided into the comprehension of reading text and characterises reading literacy in the context of functional literacy. Subsequently, it describes the two preferred methods of reading in the educational system of the Czech Republic. It closely reveals the possibilities of evaluating the readers' performance using both quantitative and qualitative characteristics of reading, with the emphasis on the categorisation of reading mistakes based on the work by M. M. Clay. In this part of the thesis explains the principle of measuring the eye movements by a device called eye-tracker. Last but not least the thesis compares results of the international research PIRLS and presents the current documents of the curriculum. The empirical part uses results from the undertaken analysis, where the both groups of pupils reading comprehension is compared during the first year. When analysing the results of analytic-synthetic and genetic method we reviewed all the aspects relating to the performance of the read text.
