Job satisfaction of employees depending on the size of the company

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je ověření korelace spokojenosti zaměstnanců v souvislosti s velikostí firmy, ve které pracují. V této práci uvedu patřičné teoretické poznatky a na základě anonymního dotazníku a veřejně dostupných informací se pokusím specifikovat rozdíl ve faktorech spokojenosti zaměstnanců na základě velikosti firmy. Spokojenost v zaměstnání je důležitým životním faktorem, jelikož představuje přibližně třetinu produktivního života běžného jedince. Proto je pro zaměstnavatele (a také pro společnost) velice důležité pěstovat a udržovat si spokojenost lidí v této životní sféře. Toto téma jsem si vybrala, protože i mě zanedlouho bude čekat pracovní nasazení, a také mou pracovní spokojenost budou jednoho dne ovlivňovat různé faktory. V teoretické části se budu zabývat sociologií práce se zaměřením na následující témata: hodnocení zaměstnance, pracovní spokojenost a motivace zaměstnance (faktory ovlivňující spokojenost práce, jejich vliv na pracovní výkon a druhy motivací), teorie organizace (základní teorie a její rozvoj) a řízení lidských zdrojů (styly řízení/vedení pracovníků a skupiny). Vzorek respondentů mého šetření bude vybírán ze zaměstnanců dvou firem s obdobnou pracovní náplní, ale odlišných velikostí. Výzkum bude proveden formou kvantitativní metodologie za pomocí anonymního dotazníkového šetření ve vybraných firmách. Účelem mého výzkumu bude zjistit postoje zaměstnanců k jejich práci a zaměřit se na odlišnost faktorů ovlivňujících spokojenost a jejich úroveň v závislosti na velikosti firmy.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to verify the assumed correlation between the employees job satisfaction and the size of the company they work at. I will introduce specific theoretical knowledge and attempt to find the correlation whilst utilizing an annonymous questionnaire survey. Job satisfaction plays a key role in modern society, as an average employee spends an approximate 1/3 of their adult life working. As such, it is (for both the employer and the society) very important to maintain a healthy level of job satisfaction and strive for better working conditions. As for the reason why I have chosen this topic, I will soon have to decide what to do with my life. As such, gaining general overview of the possible work related pitfalls, which might await me, will surely prove useful once I'm forced to make an employment based decision. Firstly, this thesis deals with the theoretical part of "The sociology of work", which includes the following topics: employee performance evaluation, job satisfaction and/or motivation (factors which define job satisfaction, their influence on an individuals work performance and the topology of motivation), organizational theory (basic principles and its development) and human resource management (styles of management applied to an individual or a work group). Secondly, a research is done - a sample of respondents was picked from the employees of two different-sized national companies with a similar work orientation. The research was done utilizing a quantitative method in the form of an anonymous survey. The aim of this survey was to evaluate the working attitudes of the employees using factor-based questions and to gauge their work satisfaction in correlation with the size of the company they work at.
